Anyone who knows me, knows that I do not necessarily follow rules ..I had no idea such rules even existed!...but since there are SO many tea parties to attend..you may find yourself needing to know one or two of these little nuggets in order to be invited back.....let me enlighten you with some tea party etiquette....

When you take a sip of tea, do not look around at the other guests, but lower your eyes so you can see what you are doing.
Scones are a traditional part of a proper tea. Split the scone with a knife. Since the knife is now used, lay it gently on the side of your plate.

Be sure to take small bites and never take a sip of tea to wash down your food. Tea is hot and not meant for this task.
If you ever have to leave the table, place your napkin on your chair, never the table.
Never blot or wipe your lipstick with a linen or cloth napkin.

The hostess will signal the end of the tea by picking up her napkin and laying it to the left of her plate.
Most importantly, enjoy the company of your fanciful tea loving friends.
Cheers!
PS..I believe my next post will be MY RULES for the perfect tea party!!
